Black Diamond Express Welsh Mini-tour

Luke Philbrick

Original roots music drawing on traditional blues and folk influences. Startlingly powerful vocals, raw delta blues styled guitar and an almost tribal foot-stomping beat combine to create a special atmosphere.

Gav's 41st!

Time flies when you're having fun...

Gav's B'Day gig is going to be off the chain with a line up full of our fav people.

Gareth Pearson

"Those who have seen him play will agree that Gareth Pearson is a special talent. Fingerstyle pyrotechnics combined with explosive lead runs make Pearson one of the most exciting acoustic musicians gigging today".

Steve Harvey /Guitarist Magazine

“Gareth Pearson is no average guitar player. He has developed a distinctive style and execution to his playing that has earned him the greatest of accolades from World renowned players. In less than five years, he has grown from a relatively unknown guitar appreciator into a fully fledged professional who now performs in many parts of the World. With influences such as Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel and Merle Travis, Gareth’s arsenal of techniques represents a broad gamut to be entertained by, even if one cannot see his fingers move as they dance with such fluidity. These opinions of popularity are beginning to grow further as guitar greats including Jan Akkerman and Tommy Emmanuel have invited and requested Gareth’s company on tour. Add to this his characteristic vocal signatures and you have one of the World’s most developed new guitar players that has truly blossomed”.

Thoby Davis - Solo - I-Amethyst

I-Amethyst is the solo ‘electronica’ project from musician and multi-instrumentalist Thoby Davis. Formed off the back of Thoby Davis and David Moule’s electronica duo The DMT Experiment, Thoby began ‘experimenting’ with his own solo electronic music fairly early on with amazing technological gadgets such as the Roland ‘Handsonic 15’, Juno Gi and the Korg Kaossilator Pro.

These tools allowed Thoby to play music from a range of styles and sounds and with the development of the iPad, his solo set began to form. The iPad, being such a diverse creative tool, allows Thoby to play with samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, loop stations, fx units and so on and is capable of producing a sound suitable for any venue from the most intimate cafe setting to the grandest stadium.

Thoby enjoys playing a huge range of different styles of electronica, ranging from the avant garde experimental to the most filthy drum n bass/break core, however he is most in his element when he’s playing his 130 bpm techno sets favouring the epic soundscapes and multi-layered drums and percussion.

With the cutting edge technological improvements happening almost daily with the iPad, I-Amethyst electronica sets continue to develop as the apps allow for a greater and greater musical freedom and inspiration. The musical future is brighter than ever!

The Brwmys

Foot-stomping, jig-tastic future folk from Cardiff, playing an eclectic mix of Bluegrass to Bhangra, Irish to Arabic…and everything in between…

After forming in 2012, The Brwmys have been spreading their music around like jam on toast. Influences are predominantly folk, rock and blues, but these are combined with flavours of Asia, South America, and the middle-east to give the band an unusual and unique sound. Songs can be simple or complex, gentle or manic with no barriers to constrain experimentation.

Be prepared to swig your cider, dance your socks off, and find out what the Brwmys actually means…

Bryony Sier Music

Bryony Sier and I'm a singer-songwriter/guitarist from South Wales. I've always had a love for singing, since a really young age. But my passion grew when my aunt started learning me guitar when I was 12. I fell in love with the instrument and later went on to self teach the fingerpicking style of playing.

I'm very inspired by Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Leon Bridges, Jake Bugg and Ben Howard.

The first 'singing' experience I had in front of an actual audience was when I was ten years old, and I entered an online competition for Disney Channel. It was an online voting competition, for acts to go through to the finals to perform a track from High school musical and spend 3 days in London in the Disney Channel studios. I came runner up, and the final track was aired on the show. This was a massive experience for me, and the first time I'd ever done a live performance and had it aired on TV.

In 2013 I won the Spread the word arts and literature festival talent competition which was judged by singer/songwriter Amy Wadge. Amy offered me the opportunity to work with her and record some of my songs. She later introduced me to The Young Promoters Network who invited me to workshops and gigs including sessions at Ffresh- Cardiff and chose me as one of the ten Forte Acts of 2016. Since being part of the Forte Project I was offered to be a support act for Rick Wakeman, performed at the Hay festival in support of Dan Bettridge (Horizons) and had the chance to work with producer Charlie Francis in which I got to create two 5 track EP's.

I've recently been back in the studio, creating a third EP with Cardiff based producer, Lee House. I've had the opportunity to work with Brad Griffiths and Matthew Frederick during this process and I've really enjoyed bringing the new songs to life.

The Algal Bloom

The Algal Bloom started in late 2017 as the result of material written by Jon and Sam over the course of playing together for over 10 years. To accurately portray the vision in mind for the songs the band was set up with the intention of getting a potentially disastrous number of musicians to make a wonderful noise together, thus The Algal Bloom, a 7 piece band of wildly eclectic players, was born. Heres to 2018 and the spread of everyones favourite, on occasions but not always hazardous, single celled organisms, The Algal Bloom.

GIG LATER
Whitehall Parade

WHITEHALL PARADE - Seven piece rootsy folk rock band based in Cardiff (formerly known as The James Clode Band).

The band is based in Cardiff but to date (2015) has recently performed at a number of venues, events and festivals across the UK including the Watchet Music Festival, C2C Country-to-Country Festival and the Welsh Perry & Cider Festival at Caldicot Castle.

Our music is a combination of up-beat, foot stomping tunes and softer, more folk-orientated melodies.

The Kinky Wizzards

The Kinky Wizzards are one of the most audacious, exciting and fun instrumental rock jazz bands to have exploded in the music scene. The Welsh trio, comprising of bassist Mathew ‘Miffy’ Griffiths, drummer Jonathan ‘Jiffy’ Griffiths and guitarist Ryan Elliott offer an unforgettable pyrotechnical kinky display of musical wizardry where you can expect anything from flying drum sticks to slapped bass to indulgent yet infectious guitar solos, all packaged in ludicrous song titles such as ‘Door Dancing Penny Collector’ and ‘Stomp Foot Syndrome’.

Since releasing their debut album ‘Tasting Toadstools’ of predominantly bass and drums, the band has sold records worldwide and has already garnered a solid reputation, having played the London drum show to an audience including Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, been featured on DrumTalk TV and opened for Frank Zappa’s band members, The Mothers of Invention. The band has also endorsed and demoed gear for worldwide manufacturers Mapex and Seymour Duncan.

The band released their sophomore record ‘Quirky Musings’ in March of 2017, introducing Elliott’s writing to the catalogue. The record has sold internationally and has been praised by fans and critics alike for the instrumental prowess on display from the trio, as well the playful interplay, grooviness and sense of fun. All of which is showcased in their live performances.

The Kinky Wizzards are three extremely dedicated musicians who set out to push musical boundaries whilst always holding their notorious sense of humorous wit that will thrill any lover of instrumental music.

The James Davies Trio,

Made up of ‘Miffy griffiths (Bass) and Jiffy Griffiths (Drums) from the ‘Kinky Wizzards’ offer a solid experienced backline to the talented James Davies from ‘Wynt’ (Vocals and Electric/Acoustic guitar).

All 3 of these boys have spent years working with different artists each building a well-known portfolio platform for themselves.

James has a long catalogue of original material that the brothers wanted to help push, also expanding and creating the ‘James Davies Trio’ and alternatively pushing them into new territory.

It’s only the beginning of something that could have great potential.

King Cerulean

King Cerulean is an accoustic covers band from Cardiff, UK!
